Hot Meals
Gold Crest provides delivery of a nutritionally balanced noon meal to community residents that have requested this service. Menus are sent out for the month and each person can select which days to recieve delivery. Gold Crest strives to maintain affordable meal prices for those needing hot meal delivery, and billing statements are mailed each month. Please call the Dietary Department or contact This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it for details.
We are extremely grateful to community members who assist our neighbors by delivering hot meals. To keep this service affordable, we seek friendly volunteers with 30 minutes to spare, who are able to drive and hand deliver the prepared meals. Each day, the delivering volunteer recieves a complimentary meal in appreciation for their efforts. Contact Deb Copas if you would like to help us with hot meal delivery.
Adult Day Care
Gold Crest understands the need for additional assistance to caregivers at home. We have an Adult Day Care program that allows a resident to come for a day while their caregivers run errands, attend appointments, or just relax for a few hours. Nursing care is provided, such as assisting with meals, medications and bathing. The resident is welcome to attend activities of his or her choice, and socialize with the other residents. Adult Day Care can be provided on an hourly, half-day or whole day period. Please call Social Services or contact This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. Child Care
Gold Crest is a unique healthcare campus in that we also have an onsite Child Care Center. The children attending get love and attention from many "adopted grandparents" and the children, in turn, learn about differently-abled people. Our intergenerational activities benefit everyone involved and add a new dimension into our quality of life. Parkinson's Support
Did you know that Nebraska has the highest incidence of Parkinson’s Disease reported per capita in the world? Parkinson’s (PD) strikes nerve cells in the brain that control muscle movement. People with the disease often experience trembling, muscle rigidity, difficulty walking, problems with balance and slowed movement. One of the earliest symptoms is reported loss of taste and smell. Symptoms usually develop after age 60, but some people are affected before age 50. Michael J. Fox, Muhammad Ali, Billy Graham and Janet Reno have PD. Pope John Paul II and former Nebraska Congressman Peter Hoagland passed away from complications of PD. There is no cure for Parkinson's, but patients can be treated medically for their symptoms.
Gold Crest understands the difficulty people have when living with Parkinson's Disease. We started a support group to help bring understanding and information to those with PD, their family and friends. Options for treatment, resources, and coping skills are just a few topics discussed at our monthly meetings. If you would like to attend a free Parkinson's Support Group meeting, we get together every 3rd Tuesday of each month at 6:30 p.m. in the Gold Crest Chapel. If you would like more information about how Gold Crest can provide you with Parkinson's support, contact This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. Therapy (In or Out Patient) and Restorative

Gold Crest was founded on the understanding that we would attempt to cure when possible. While cures for every diagnosis are not possible, we provide a means to rehabilitate and regain function. For our residents and those who live in or near our community, this provides an opportunity to improve or maintain physical function. In cooperation with your physician our team of therapists set up a therapy regime to meet your needs through a variety of modalities.
Our efforts to achieve or maintain each residents' highest practical physical, mental, and psychosocial well-being are heightened by our restorative department. After admission, each resident is evaluated to determine areas of weakness and strength. The findings of this evaluation are discussed with the resident's family and physican and a restorative program is scheduled. Meetings held weekly aid in identifying residents who may have shown decline or improvement in their activities of daily living (ADL's) and changes are made according to individual resdient needs. If you would like more information about in-patient, out-patient or restorative programs at Gold Crest Retirement Center, please contact Rosie Estle at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. Skilled Nursing
Each resident’s care is individualized to meet their needs and to reach their highest level of functionality and quality of life. The daily rate for each resident includes incontinent products, cable television and laundry services. Listed here are some of the other services specific to our skilled nursing facility.
Mobility
Gold Crest provides standard wheel chairs and walkers or the resident may provide their own. Customized or specialized wheel chairs, walkers or electric wheel chairs are not provided; however, through our therapy department we help in determining resident's abilities and work with vendors of durable medical equipment to provide these.
Physician Visits
Each resident has the right to choose their own physician, and some doctors may be willing to come to our facility to see your loved one. Our Medical Director is Dr. Stacey Goodrich from Tecumseh; he routinely visits our facility and may be willing to assume the role of Primary Care Physician if the resident desires.
Medications
The medications are dispensed to the residents according to the physician orders and documented in their chart. Medications are provided, set up and labeled by Lake Crest Pharmacy of Adams, NE. Lake Crest is able to work with most of the Medicare D Drug Plans, Medicaid, and VA prescription plans. There may be instances where a resident utilizes over the counter or non-prescription medications or herbal products. All medicinal products used in our facility must have a physician order and pharmacy label on it; for this reason, we ask that family do not bring "medications" not ordered for the resident.
Bathing
Shower or whirlpool baths are offered twice a week or as needed or requested by resident or family. Bathing supervision and hands on assistance is provided in accordance with the resident's level of care.
Medical Services
Additional medical services that are offered include visits with a Podiatrist that comes to our facility to provide nail and foot care; a licensed mental health practitioner makes rounds at our facility as needed to provide mental and emotional services to our residents; we can arrange for visits to local dental and chiropractice services. We have staff on duty to provide phlebotomy and utilize nearby lav services.
Safety
It is our goal to maintain a safe working and living environment for everyone on our healthcare campus. We practice emergency drills to ensure readiness and training for both employees and resdients, maintaining a calm atmosphere to reduce the stress and percieved danger. We utilize a comprehensive Lift Safe program. This program incorporates resident assessment, staff training, communication and equipment selection. We reposition, transfer and ambulate our residents in the safest way possible. Residents at risk for elopement may wear a roam alert bracelet for their safety. We have a centrally located and resident accessible courtyard and secured gated outdoor area for resident and family enjoyment.
Hospice and Comfort Care
Hospice or Palliative care is a supportive service focused on pain and symptom management for individuals with a life-limiting illness. Gold Crest works closely with hospice staff to treat the whole person and not just the "disease." Hospice is appropriate when our goal is for dignity, comfort and support at a time when aggressive medicine is no longer desired. Reimbursement is usually available through Medicare, Medicaid and most other insurance carriers. Hospice does not pay for the daily room rate, but they do provide durable medical equipment and medications related to resident comfort. They also provide emotional support and grief counseling to residents' families and staff.
Gold Crest Retirement Center desires to assure the residents their rights of self-determination. Gold Crest provides educational material and arranges communication between hospice provider and family members. Memory Care
Gold Crest is dedicated to providing continued care and services to our community. Upon evaluation of our services offered, we noticed we could benefit some of our residents with a more suitable environment that was geared toward their diagnosis of dementia. Research and education and a great deal of planning has brought us our Memory Care Addition.
Not all of our residents needs full “skilled care.” A few have come to stay with us because they are not safe at home due to wandering, forgetfulness or confusion. However, they can still provide all their own daily cares independently or with gentle cueing or guidance. Persons diagnosed with dementia, such as Alzheimer’s, need a soothing environment that they can trust will not be over stimulating or everchanging. They need caregivers who are patient and understand what changes the disease can bring about in a person.
Our Memory Care area will provide a calm and relaxing atmosphere where residents can feel comfortable during their daily routines. The eight private rooms are furnished with electric bed, dresser and nightstand, and their own flat screen TV. The walk-in closet provides ample storage for their belongings while their private bathroom offers them privacy. When the desire to visit arises, the residents can relax in the living room area with leather chairs and a big screen TV. The stone fireplace is sure to bring a smile to those sitting in the cozy living area whether visiting, reading or watching TV. The sunroom provides another sitting area with comfortable chairs for soaking up the sun.
Mealtime is tailored to include personal preferences as well as provide nutritionally balanced meals. The kitchen island allows for staff supervision and the refrigerator provides snacks for residents who find meal time difficult. The bathing area with shower and walk-in whirlpool tub allows ample space and privacy while giving the supervision needed to keep the resident safe. The personal washer and dryer is available and staff will ensure all residents have clean linens and clothing.
Maintaining the quality of life for persons with dementia can be a challenge. Finding the balance between enjoyment, ability, and comfort is an everyday effort. Personalized activities are offered as well as the opportunity to participate in larger group activities such as bingo, hymn sing and Bible study.
One of the largest struggles for caregivers in the home is keeping the person with dementia in a safe area. Our Memory Care area is fitted with secured lock exits to ensure the residents are in a safe and supervised area at all times. They also need the ability to call for help no matter their location, so we integrated a mobile call light system. Each caregiver will have training and education designed specifically for caring for people with dementia.
